Your True Identity In Christ
Every human has an identity, but a true identity can only be found in Christ. We live in a time and season when we must understand what we stand for and who we are. This understanding shapes the way we see life; it brings us into a place of peace with ourselves and others. Most of the time, we are carried away by what we see, but these things that will see are not directly related to our identity. But it creates a lot of worries and anxieties in our minds.
God, our Creator, desires that we are fulfilled, and that is why you and I have been created with unique gifts and talents which must be discovered and used. This discovery will bring us to a place of joy. I have seen men who have lived the life of others. What does that mean? It means looking at others and trying to do exactly what they do. But my findings are that no man will ever be fulfilled living a life that is meant for someone else. It will only create more worries, anxiety and insecurity.
We can never come to a level of satisfaction, peace and fulfilment with this kind of mindset. Someone says it steals our joy. The primary thing to know about who we are is that mankind is created in the image of God which signifies dominion; “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth” (Genesis 1:26).
Christ has revealed Himself to us as the Saviour. He wants to help us discover who we are. And as a matter of truth, Jesus came, and He knew who He was. So, we can conclude that He is a very great example of someone who lived a life that is fulfilled because He came purposely to die to reconcile mankind back to God, and He never gave up this purpose. Jesus Christ had challenges; He was hungry like every other man. Sometimes He wanted to drink water; He was very thirsty. Even at Gethsemane, He was scared to go to the cross but He never gave up because He said He would rather do the will of the Father and He says “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” (Matthew 26:39).
So why don’t you seek the Father, the Creator of the heaven and earth, today for your identity? He wants to help. He wants to fix things because we can only try, but we cannot fix things. He wants to open your eyes to see. The first stage is that we must desire to see. After seeing our desire, that means we have given Him the right to do what He loves to do, which is to open our spiritual sight to see who we are. After we have seen our identity, we can confirm that we have also identified our purpose in life.
The overall effect of this process is that the Father then sustains us, to keep us and to guide us through the Person of the Holy Spirit. “ for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring” (Acts 17:28).
I know that you have been blessed by this article. Now it is time to be a blessing unto others by sharing your true identity with them.
