A small act of kindness
Can brighten someone’s day
Will you show the love of Jesus
In a practical way?
Some may need a hug
Or just a listening ear
Or someone who will take the time
To listen to their fears
Others need a prayer
To keep them standing strong
And others need some wisdom
To stop them going wrong
Some are sick and weary
And need a helping hand
Can you provide a meal or transport
Supporting them to stand?
Some just need a smile
To get them through the day
Can you be the one to help
In such a loving way?
A lonely soul goes home alone
To an empty chair
And speaks to no-one whilst outside
Could you be the one to care?
A penniless mum with a hungry child
Will you pass them by
Or will you look at them with compassion
As through the saviours eyes?
Can you have some compassion
For the person stumbling by
Or like the priest in the parable
Will you just keep walking by?
Could you be the one to ease their pain
For just a moment or too
For them to know that someone cares
Is that someone you?
We all need love and compassion
We all need someone to care
But can we be the answer
To someone else’s prayer?
