If You Will Hear and Listen

Today’s Scriptural Arsenal (SA) is best enjoyed whilst listening to the song “Be Still My Soul” by Kari Jobe.

Imagine a soft and persistent knock in the quiet recesses of your heart. It is the gentle presence of Jesus, standing at the door of your soul, patiently awaiting an invitation. Inspired by Revelation 3:20, this Scriptural Arsenal (SA) reveals a profound truth: Jesus longs to commune with us, to dine with us in the sacred sanctuary of our hearts, but He waits for us to hear and listen to His tender voice.

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me.”

In a world filled with noise and distraction, it’s easy to miss that delicate knock. Yet, the Almighty, who knows each sparrow’s fall, is attuned to every beat of your heart. His voice whispers gently, carried on the winds of time, seeking to be heard amidst the chaos of life.

The art of hearing and listening to Jesus transcends the mere act of auditory perception. It involves the depths of our souls, a communion of spirits. As the Good Shepherd, He calls His sheep by name, guiding them with a voice of love and wisdom (John 10:27). Listen closely, and you will hear Him whisper your name too.

Picture Jesus, the Word incarnate, the Divine voice that once spoke the cosmos into existence. His voice, now a balm to the weary, reverberates in the chambers of your soul. In the stillness of your heart, His words take root, bringing comfort, guidance, and peace.

Let us not forget the mountaintop transfiguration, where God’s voice resounded from the heavens, declaring Jesus as His beloved Son (Matthew 17:5). The same voice that echoed through eternity now calls us to listen and obey. Our souls find solace in yielding to His voice, and our lives align with divine purpose.

Consider the story of Mary and Martha. As Martha fretted over preparations, Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, hanging on His every word. Jesus commended Mary’s choice, affirming that listening to Him is necessary (Luke 10:38-42). May we, too, learn the art of stillness and undistracted devotion.

Yet, amidst life’s challenges, we may struggle to hear Him. Doubts may cloud our hearts, and fear may drown out His voice. Remember that Jesus, the gentle caller, does not force entry in such moments. He patiently waits for us to open the door of our hearts. The moment we do, a celestial feast of love and understanding awaits.

With each sunrise, as the world awakens, be reminded that Jesus’ knock remains constant. He stands in joy and sorrow, triumph and trial, longing to walk beside us. All we need to do is listen.

As you journey through the tapestry of life, may you become attuned to the symphony of His voice. The art of hearing and listening to Jesus will fill your days with hope and purpose. The mundane will transform into the sacred, for you will find Him in every corner of existence.

So, when you feel the gentle stirrings in your heart, know that Jesus awaits. He seeks to partake in the communion of your soul. Open the door, and let Him in. Together, you will savour the banquet of life, where His love and your heart intertwine.

If you will hear and listen, Jesus will abide with you always.

Today’s Scriptural Arsenal (SA) for Daily Living will end here, but note that Scriptural Arsenal (SA) will only do something once you put it to use. Remember that ONLY the Doers are glorified, but how can you be if you have not studied?
