Love is Giving!

God wants us to know that His love is unconditional, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, while we were still unlovable sinners who rejected the love He had for us. We do not have to clean up our act or make any promises to God before we could experience His love for us.

The Bible says that “God is love” and 1 John 4:8 says “Anyone that does not love does not know God, because God is love”. There are a lot of passages in the Bible that talk about God’s love, for example the very well-known passage John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This is one way in which God defines His love, which is in the act of “giving” something, or in His case he gave “someone.”

God gave us the ultimate gift; He gave us His Son so that we can put our faith and trust in Him. God sent His Son as the sacrifice for our sin, so that through our faith in Him, we will receive eternal salvation with Him. This love is amazing, because we are the ones who chose to reject God, but it is God who mends this separation through His incredible personal sacrifice, and all we have to do is accept His gift.

God’s Unconditional Giving

Another great verse talking about God’s love is Romans 5:8, which says “But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” This verse is amazing because like John 3:16, it states that there is no conditions put on God’s love for us. God never said, “if you get your act together, I’ll love you” or “I will sacrifice my only Son if you promise to love me.” Romans 5:8 actually states the opposite.

God wants us to know that His love is unconditional, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, while we were still unlovable sinners who rejected the love He had for us. We do not have to clean up our act or make any promises to God before we could experience His love for us, to me (and I hope to you as well), this is such an encouraging thing to know, that we were so loved (like it says in John 3:16 “for God so loved”) before we even knew we needed His love.

Now as many as believe Him, they have the authority of the Son of God, who came purposely to die for you and I. If you can forget the past, forgive yourself and approach the throne of grace today, His arms are open wide to receive you into His fold. Do you want to know Him for the first time or you want to rededicate your life unto Him? Take a step of faith today and come to Jesus!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelations 3:20).
