Phases of Preparation

From experience, I have observed in history that the greatest of the vessels that God called and commissioned for His purpose, were on the field of their profession when God appeared to them. Peter was a fisherman, and on his boat fishing when Jesus met him and told him, He would make him a fisher of men. James and John were also mending their nets when they got an invitation from Jesus to follow Him.

Likewise, Moses was shepherding his father-in-law’s flock when God showed Himself to him. “And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.” (Exodus 3:2).

This was the beginning of the third phase in the life of Moses, the shepherd in Midian. There is inevitably a phase that you will be ready and fully prepared for the divine task which God has prepared for you. There are certain mental developments that you must observe and pass through before you move to another stage of growth with God. There are some certain behavioural boxes you must tick before you could be qualified for the blessing and promotion you are seeking the face of God for.

All these require patience, perseverance, faith, humility and you can look into all the fruits of the spirit, thereby observing to place these side-by-side your attitudes and this will surely determine if you are ready for it. Moses started his life in the Egyptian palace, one of the most historic monarchical systems of government in the world. It implies that Moses has a great beginning in life as he was raised within the first-class type of family background in ancient Egypt. This upbringing automatically gave him a great sense of unreserved self-esteem and pride, which negates humility. It was not a mistake that God allowed him to have this early start in life. At some point, it would be needed.

The second phase of his life as a shepherd also played a significant role in building him to be the Israel God-given leader. It was a season of breaking for Moses. He came from the palace as a first-class prince and became a common shepherd in the land of Midian. He only looked after his father-in-law’s sheep and reported to Jethro, his father-in-law, and boss. It was a time of learning to lead and protect the sheep. This was relevant as he led the Israelites through the desert to the land of promise.

Through Moses, God protected His people. They went through the red sea and this was a miracle which the Lord wrought through the hand of Moses because he obeyed the voice of God.

After a significant number of years in the practice of Digital Marketing and Information Technology, I discovered that God actually prepared me for the ministry of the gospel of truth, using media. The first question I asked God when I had a revelation about my calling, was that “God, why did you allow me to waste all these years pursuing my career in PR, advertising, digital communications, and marketing?” He then told me those years are not wasted, but they were to prepare you for the work of ministry. Inter-personal skills, humility, maturity, and even academic and professional qualifications are all needed to allow me to reach out across the board.

This applies to all Christians and every man who is passing through any situation at the moment. There are lessons in the situation you are in now. Whether the situation is great or otherwise, you are in a classroom of life and you better get a pen and paper to jot down the salient points God is teaching you. The point I am driving at here is that lessons being taught in the classroom of life today would be useful and applicable to your new status tomorrow. These lessons might be useful for your career or ministry.

Welcome into the month of June!
