Recklessly Reckless

How does it sound to drive a car that doesn’t have  an  MOT and insurance? Would you drive in a car that has no break, no side mirror, no gear or enough fuel on a motorway? I am very sure you would say “that is crazy”, yes it is crazy and absolutely ridiculous. In fact, it is an unreasonable thing to do, and it is certain that the consequences of such recklessness would be grievous.

Nevertheless,  this is how many, if not all of us, live our lives,  with no purpose, no meaning, even no sense of identity whatsoever. We live our lives as if it is ours and we can do whatever we want with it. The truth is your life is no longer your own. It belong to Jesus, as long as you have accepted Him  into your life as your  Lord and saviour. He is now on the driver seat of your life.   “Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body”. (1 Corinthians 6:20 MSG).

You have driven recklessly long enough on this route, with no sense of direction. Sometimes it is even harder to observe the traffic signs, now it’s time to stop, think  and ask which way are you heading? Broadway street or Narrow lane street,  both are available for you to travel on, but the choice is yours. On the Broadway street, you can afford to drive recklessly because the road is  so broad and wide with so many distractions that can complicate and throw you off balance.  Reason being, the road looks so genuine and tempting with lots of freedom to a racing fling. However, you might as well ask  yourself again do I want to travel the Narrow lane street? which looks so boring, with little or no activities?  Despite the quietness on this route, there is freedom, no confusion and nothing can disorientate you, but rather orientate you that reckless driving is strictly prohibited.  The sad thing is, as peaceful, safe, and beautiful this street is, not a lot of drivers drive through. I tell you there are not even pedestrians or cyclists.

I wonder what the problem is, not a lot of people prefer this easy route, where there lies good health, prosperity, peace of mind, where there are no wars, disasters and all. Yet, no one wants to follow the route. It seems everyone is full of ego and wants to take control of their lives, not willing to be subject  to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the owner of their lives, which indeed, is terrible.

“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.  For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few”. (Matthew 7 :13-14 ESV).

The choice now is yours. So choose either to keep on wrecking your life or pause and have a rethink, and make a U-turn. At least, there are still chances of you making a turn around of your life for good. No more reckless living, but peaceful living.

Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! 20 You can make this choice by loving the Lord your God, obeying him, and committing yourself firmly to him. This[a] is the key to your life. And if you love and obey the Lord, you will live long in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 30:19-20). (NLT Translation).
