The Blessings of Fellowship

The believer’s life is integrated into the life of Christ, the Zoe. There are ways to keep this life active and energised in order to survive and thrive in this world (the cosmos). The life that is lived here on earth is with all kinds of trials and challenges. As Jesus said in John 17:16; “They are not of the world, even as I am not of it”. Though, the believer is not of the world, but he lives in the world, and he is required to have the understanding on how he can be equipped to navigate his ways through his daily living and still focused on living a victorious life in Jesus Christ. Then I have discovered that one of the clues to living a victorious life is for the believer to be part of a church, a local assembly of believers.

The church as an organism stands out as a spiritual unit with a life of its own, and this life affects the life of believers, who are divinely and strategically brought together to fellowship and allow the Holy Spirit at the centre.

The church is the centre, where every part of the body of Christ meets and share the testimony of Jesus as it has been revealed to each of them, for the edification of the whole body. That is the reason for fellowship. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25). The immediate need for the believer to integrate into the church as an organism is to develop into maturity. The reason is that the Spirit of God is always at the centre of all activities that take place within the body of Christ.

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).

“Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous”

(1 Peter 3:8).

“That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:

I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me” (John 17:21-23).

“For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones” (Ephesian 5:30).

Forsaking the gathering of believers is a danger to the growth and survival of the believer. It is therefore crucial to be part of a local church. Are you an active member of a local assembly of believers?
