Life is in seasons. Just as we have different seasons of the year, the season of winter is different from the season of summer, and when spring comes, we must know that the weather will change, and during autumn, leaves fall off the trees. The life of every man and woman comes with seasons, and understanding these seasons will help us adapt to and accept the different terms each season brings. Understanding the topic of seasons in life brings us into a place of Peace with ourselves and God.
Text for Reflection: Psalms 104:19-23 NKJV
[19] He appointed the moon for seasons; The sun knows its going down. [20] You make darkness, and it is night, In which all the beasts of the forest creep about. [21] The young lions roar after their prey, And seek their food from God. [22] When the sun rises, they gather together And lie down in their dens. [23] Man goes out to his work And to his labor until the evening.
David wrote about how God created the moon and the sun and gave them different roles during different seasons in the natural cycle. Now, just imagine that if God could put nature in seasons, that means we humans are not exempted from evolving in seasons. The very prominent Factor and element of seasons is change. Every season brings its new features and elements. So, we must understand that change comes with every new season. Though it is generally known that change is the only constant thing in life, it is also very difficult for human nature. We do not want it! The reason is that when change takes place, it disrupts our space and interrupts our personal routines. And it has been discovered that a larger percentage of humans do not want their space to be disrupted or their routines tampered with.
As much as our minds do not want change, we need to be aware that change is the most crucial requisite to living a life of peace, especially in God. The moment we come to Jesus, everything changes; our thoughts, our actions, our relationships, the way we speak, everything changes. As we become a new man in Christ, old things (attitudes, behaviour and actions) are passed away; behold, new things begin to happen.
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation,” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).
However, being able to trust in Jesus and His Grace for change is the beginning of living a life of fulfilment as a believer. God said to Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you”, even in this new season of your journey with me. “9 And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)
So, it’s an encouragement for you today to trust Jesus for the changes that you are currently experiencing in your life. When we put our trust in Him and lean on His grace, then we can experience this change without much difficulty, but we must be intentional about beginning the journey of change today, knowing that a new season comes with a new approach, with new blessings. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)
