Being the Kingdom Ambassador
Every human being has been created with a purpose attached to them at birth. โBefore I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nationsโ (Jeremiah 1:5). God desires that we live a life that is purposeful, and this purpose must revolve around His Kingdom. Many people live a photocopied life. A life that is imitated. They look at many others on social media, in books, on the streets, in society, and they want to live exactly the way they live. There’s nothing bad in having role models and the desire to follow a good example, but this should only be a guiding strategy, in a way that we can learn and apply some proven principles that will enable us to live and fulfil our own specific purposes in life.
Psalms 71:17-18 AMP
[17] O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous works and miraculous deeds. [18] And even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not abandon me, Until I declare Your [mighty] strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.
David experienced the power of God from his youth as he wrote in psalm 71:17. He wrote of how wonderful and miraculous the Lord has been to him growing up from his youth. He believed that the Lord had shown him so much mercy, wonders, and miracles that he would not be able to keep quiet about all of these, but he would shout; he would make known these works.
He then prayed in verse 18 โeven when I am old, oh God, do not abandon me until I declare your mighty strength to this generation and your power to all who are to comeโ. That is the desire of God; that we live a life of purpose that revolves around His Kingdom. What David desires is that the Lord will preserve him even when he is very old, so that he can be resourceful. How could he still be resourceful? He wanted to declare the strength of God. He wanted to be a testament of God’s power to everyone around him and even generations after him.
The Apostle Paul was created and called by God for the purpose of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, while Peter was called to focus on the Jews. Each of them has been equipped by God to walk in these ministries, and souls of men are eagerly waiting to hear the message they have been sent with. It is very crucial to understand that the world is waiting for the manifestations of our purposes so they can walk in the light of the needed revelations to attain fulfilment and peace in life. In the case of Paul, it was recorded in Acts: โFor the Lord gave us this command when he said, โI have made you a light to the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the earth.โ When the Gentiles heard this, they were very glad and thanked the Lord for his message; and all who were chosen for eternal life became believersโ (Acts 13:47-48).
Our prayer to God must not be selfish. It must not be about us and us alone. The moment we begin to think beyond ourselves, and we begin to think about our generation and generations to come, then we are enabled to relate the program of God, the power of God, the strength of God, the miracles of God, and the capacities of God to them. In this light, we can then conclude that God will respond to such petitions. Many believers are consistently self-focused in their approach to worship, and this is limiting the power of God and the flow of God’s grace through us as vessels. The moment we are able to challenge God, saying to Him that we want to do this for You; please do not abandon me, do not forsake me, help me, grant me capacity, provide resources, God Will Make a Way since it’s about Him.
We must live for a purpose, and this purpose must be about the Father’s Kingdom. Jesus Christ lived that life, and He went to glory! Now He is seated by the Father. David prayed that God will make him an epitome of strength and power to generations after him, that they may see this and understand that God is alive. We are the god that people around us can see, and we must be a complete testament of God’s mercy, love, grace, power, strength, healing, and restoration.
Our testimony must be about Jesus. We must glory in Him. As we exhibit the evidence of Godโs presence in our lives, we then become an ambassador for His Kingdom, and this means living for purpose. [10] The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet their boast is only labour and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. [12] So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalms 90:10, 12).
