The global experience of Lockdown has given birth to a lot of discussions and thought-provoking issues which have affected the church, the global economy and every aspect of human lives.
In seasons of unrest, pandemic, war, natural catastrophes and disasters, the human instincts have questioned the existence of the God. Not only has the existence of God been questioned, but the supremacy of God’s power has also been investigated. A lot have been written and postulated on the topic of the sovereignty of God. Some are positive and some are extremely negative, depending on the source of the philosophy. Some arguments have been based on the feelings and emotions of the persona writing, and what the circumstances surrounding their situation are at the point of putting together their points of view of who God is and what He stands for.
Some have decided to deliver scientifically proven discoveries about the God who created the heaven and earth and all the components of what they have used to gather their findings. And at the end, they have come up with an uncooked and half-baked dimensional view of God. Paul the apostle wrote to the Romans and asked them, “has God failed to fulfil his promise to Israel?” And the rhetorical question was answered by him with a “No” (Romans 9:6). The existence of the divinity of God is not in question here, but the outstanding and incomparable infallible nature of God is being positively criticised.
By Devotion and Revelation
In God’s nature and deeds, all that have been revealed to those who have given their hearts and lives to Jesus is infallibility and holiness with no fault. There are certain things which are highly categorised as uncontroversial. One of such is criticising the divinity of God, the efficacy of His power and the deeds of His glory. This comes to a believer who has submitted and accepted that Jesus is Lord and the Saviour; “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10).
The revelation of this truth is revealed to those who have accepted Jesus as Lord, and who have been broken. Except a grain of seed fall down and die, there can’t be any form of germination or fruitfulness.
Nothing can be revealed to a man or a woman who has not experienced the touch of heaven, and has not accepted Jesus as the source of all fulfillment in life with eternity in view.
No Failure in Him
Regardless of what the circumstances are, the truth is that God has never failed and will never fail. The global experience of Lockdown has given birth to a lot of discussions and thought-provoking issues which have affected the church, the global economy and every aspect of human lives. All that the believer is required to do in such seasons is to look unto Jesus and hold unto the belief that we profess in the Jesus Christ. Regardless of what the situation or circumstance is, those who have chosen to follow the precepts of Jesus and who have decided to wholeheartedly rely on God, through His only Son, Jesus, will have a clearer understanding of the truth that God has never and will never fail;
“God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act?” (Numbers 23:19).
Mankind is the handiwork of this divine God. The global menace which the pandemic has brought into the world has created series of mix-reactions. Some have summarily concluded that God has failed and some decided to come to a conclusion that there is a supreme being, who has the capacity and prerogative power to shut the whole world indoor for months. The latter has then chosen to draw nearer to God, because they have then seen the need to have access to God, as He created the whole universe and therefore He is able to control all things, including the pandemic, their situations and whatever happens in the future.
Feelings, emotions and the intelligence of man are not enough to unravel the divinity of God and the way He works. Only the divine revelation can expose anyone to this. It does not matter what the circumstances of the persona is, but the right of the Creator to decide who sees and knows what.
Whatever happens to a man does not make God a failure and will never make Him one.
“Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant”. (2 Samuel 7:28) (NIV)
“Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.” (1 Kings 8:56) (NIV)
For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. (Psalm 33:4) (NIV)
