“…Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain…”
According to the latest report from the Aljazeera, in the record of international humanitarian crisis since the 2nd World War, Syrian crisis still tops the chart. The genesis of this could be traced back to the 15th March 2011 and it’s really been an absolute nightmare for the Syrian masses. However, the crux of the crisis has been a struggle between forces of the Ba’ath government and powers who want to remove this regime. The activists have requested that President Bashar al-Assad tenders his resignation, but this government has remained adamant and turned deaf ear to the wishes and clamour of the people of Syria.
Statistically, over five million refugees have fled the country and more that than 2.3 million children below the age of 12 have been included in this number. A significant number of children have been displaced within the Syrian community, and they cannot be found by their parents and guardians. According to the spokesman of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Babar Baloch, “It’s not about the number, it’s about the people, we’re trying to look for understanding, solidarity and humanity.” A lot of lives have been snuffed out, killed and buried alive..
With the on-going Syrian crisis, a set of parents just lost their children as a teenager, stormed Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida in the United States in February, 2018. 17 people were killed immediately in this shooting. Also in the United Kingdom, Amaan Shakoor, from Leyton, was left critically ill after he was shot in the face in Walthamstow very recently and in addition to that, the number of murder in London in 2018 has risen to 48 altogether. Reminiscing on the present situation a number of questions flashed through my mind. When and how will these unpleasant occurrences come to an end? Will it be feasible for all the stakeholders to really reach an agreement and decide to put an end to this never-ending crisis? Why can’t the world organisation enact laws which will tackle the above highlighted crisis which have hampered peace in our communities and even in the international scene?
Acknowledging God and accepting His Lordship through Jesus Christ is the only remedy to every unpleasant situation in our world today. The international unrest, states’ internal crisis, family, organisational and individual challenges can only be addressed and remedied by the touch of the supernatural. His presence brings peace that surpasses the understanding of man and it extends to eternity. “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away”. (Revelations 21:3-4). Knowing Jesus and wanting to engage in regular intimacy with Him releases you and I into an everlasting peace, fulfilment and grace to live in a world, filled with uncertainty and still enjoy certainty and bliss under His shadow. “…And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent…” (John 17:3).
