Prodigal Living

Tired of my father and family

I decided to go my own way

With my inheritance in my pocket

I made for a land far away

I squandered my money on high living

On women, friends and wine

Till my money had all been spent

And I was left to live with the swine

Their food looked so inviting

My stomach too empty to bear

I wanted to join them to eat

Swine food but I didn’t care

Then suddenly I had a thought

Of my father so far away

His servants lived better than I did

And they received a fair rate of pay

I knew then what I would do

I would return to my father and say

I’m not worthy to be called your son

Make me your servant today

But it didn’t go quite as planned

For my father was looking for me

And when He saw me far off

He ran out to kiss and greet me

With tears rolling down his face

He would not listen to what I would say

For his son that he thought was dead

Was alive and back home to stay

He called to his servants to clothe me

With fine linen and jewellery too

He took the fatted calf

And we had a party – a very grand do

This is how your heavenly Father

Is looking to greet you today

He wants you to return to

Him And leave all your sinful ways

You will find fresh hope in Him

And love beyond compare

He will cleanse and heal you

And keep you in His care

And when your life is over

He’s prepared a place for you to go

With everlasting life and peace

Where the crystal; stream does flow.

Will you come back to the Father today?

WILL YOU MAKE HIS JOY COMPLETE?
