Kibroth-Hattaavah

We live in a generation that wants more than is needed, chasing after shadows and acquiring unnecessary things. The ‘buy one get one free’ or BOGOF generation is never satisfied but keeps wanting more.

The scriptures in Matthew 6:33 clearly state that there is one thing to seek after – His Kingdom. However, many believers have fallen prey to the associated greed, worldly yearnings, and sinful discontentment of seeking the ‘other things’ instead.

Disobeying the word of God is not a new concept. The Israelites in biblical times had also fallen captive to their sinful cravings. They weren’t satisfied with God’s heavenly provision and longed for other things, which led to their destruction. God planned to take them to the promised land, a place of abundance, but most didn’t get there because they took their eyes off God and stayed stuck in their captivity. This place where the Israelites fell captive to greed, covetousness, and other sinful desires was known as the ‘graves of lust or longing’ or Kibroth-Hattaavah (Numbers 11:34).

If you find yourself in this place of sinful greed or other desires, you are not alone, and the grace of Christ is sufficient to pull you out and set you free. God has great plans for you, which can’t be fulfilled if you remain in the grave of lust. Instead, seek first God’s kingdom, and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.
