In Bad Times: Why Would I Trust God? (3)

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:20-21)

It takes a grateful heart to appreciate anything offered to him or her. Being alive is worth being grateful for and therefore addresses a significant dilemma of suicide. Though, there might be justifications if anyone wants to argue this fact, but regardless of the perspective at which anyone might look at it, life is not what can be paid for. It then depends on individual preferences regarding the matter of taking one’s life because of hardship or some mental or psychological reasons.

As stated in the scripture, when everyone had left for their homes with their families, Joshua stayed back at the tent of the meeting. “As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped each at the entrance to their tent. The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent” (Exodus 33:9-11).

It does not matter now the signals our body is sending to us. What matters is the truth of the gospel of peace…

We Have Been Bought With a Price!

Paul the Apostle wrote in his epistle to the Christians in Corinth, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). He also stated in Galatians 2:20-21 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” It is therefore vividly clear that our lives are no longer ours. Christ was crucified and His blood has been used as atonement for our sins.

It does not matter now the signals our body is sending to us. What matters is the truth of the gospel of peace and joy. What report would we believe? It’s only the report of the Lord which will prevail. As against one of the reasons for committing suicide, loneliness, this is logically not true. As the scripture says that the Holy Spirit, the comforter, dwells inside us, and He will teach us all things, if you are really a child of God, you are not alone. You are being ministered unto by the Holy Spirit. “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you” (John 16:7).

The Helper Lives in You

All you need is to be sure of your salvation and you can experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Then all your thoughts would be planned and orchestrated by the Holy Spirit, Who will teach you all things, including how you can occupy yourself in a way that you would not think of suicide. “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26).
